I had a similar experience with my first Wild Turkey in Dorchester County. After searching Cecil for quite a while I had to attend a meeting in Dorchester, and there I encountered a Turkey standing beside the main road just looking for all the world like it hadn't a care. This past week I spent 4 days in St Mary's County camping (and trying to pump up my county list). On the way home my wife (who refuses to keep lists) calmly stated "Oh look, a couple of Turkeys" as we drove up Rt 235 from Point Lookout. I immediately executed a gravity-defying 180, but missed the birds, so missed them for the county. I'm also back on probation for permission to drive her van. Gary A. I've been too busy to bird for months, but while running errands on Aug 9,2000 at 11:05 am, I was driving towards Bel Air on Rt 152 in Fallston. Just past the Middle School, just before the guard rail on the left, I saw my very first WILD TURKEY! How weird is that??? It was completely out the blue. The turkey gods must have finally forgiven me for whatever it was that I did to offend them. I've driven thousands of miles looking for a turkey over the years. I've heard them twice, but never saw them. And then one shows up in a spot I've been past millions of times in my life time, two miles from home. Go figure.
