Amidst the half dozen SNOWY and three GREAT EGRETS, stood an immature LITTLE BLUE HERON. There were small numbers of SEMIPALMATED (12) and LEAST SANDPIPERS (2), 2 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, one SEMIPALMATED PLOVER and a half dozen KILLDEER. The weekend traffic makes standing on the side of the road a bit treacherous and since most of the shoulder is Poison Ivy, it is difficult to find a safe place to stand for very long. I then drove over to Jug Bay Wetlands Park, which has so much water in the wetlands that there are no mud flats at all. While walking the Otter Point Trail, I had calling SCARLET TANAGER (nice male), RED-EYED VIREO, EASTERN PHOEBE, EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE, INDIGO BUNTING, WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH and other common residents. Butterfliles were much more interesting and highlights were two APPALACHIAN BROWNS along Otter Point Trail and a VICEROY along the Marsh Boardwalk. ////// Arlene Ripley | || Calvert County, MD | 0 || aripley@nestbox.com | || http://www.nestbox.com || ========================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ========================================================================== =========================================================================
