Birds - migrant warblers MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable A few passerine migrants are beginning to filter through the region. On Saturday, 8/19 at the McKeldin area of Patapsco Valley SP with Roxann Yeager: a Black-&-white Warbler and 3 Canada Warblers were the only migrants. One of the Canada Warblers was singing though all three looked like immatures. Of the nesting birds Pewees and Yellow-billed Cuckoos were most vocal and we also heard Parula, and Yellow-throated and Red-eyed Vireos sing briefly. On Sunday, 8/20 at Glen Falls near the north end of Liberty Lake with Debbie Terry: a Blue-winged Warbler, a Magnolia Warbler, a Blackburnian Warbler, and a Redstart were the newest arrivals. A Parula and 2 gnatcatchers there were also probably migrants. Indigo Buntings and Yellowthroats were both abundant there. ID note - An Empidonax flycatcher yesterday at Glen Falls had me guessing at first as to which migrant it could be because it was quite yellowish beneath and had a rather large eye ring. Fortunately we were able to get an excellent look at all parts of the bird. After noting the greenish cast to the back and the buff wing bars and some reconsideration I believe it was an Acadian Flycatcher, either an immature or winter adult.
