He reported that the bird departed from that area on Saturday, August 12th, around 9:00 a.m., and has not been seen since that date. He said the bird had started making a rather plaintive-sounding call a couple of days before leaving, and seemed to be regularly looking toward the sky. He also noted that the season was over for the great supply of black cherries from the tree in his yard. The property owner confirmed that a fair number of people had been there looking for the bird during the last week of its presence, and there had been no further problems with behavior of any of those visitors.
