Almost got killed twice on the first leg (ME to western MD) by 2 separate old ladies with Florida plates. I was seriously considering pre-emptive strikes against any other steely-haired Florida females, but the 2nd leg of the journey went well. \ Since several of you asked me to drop you a line now and then about my experiences, I hope the rest of you will bear with a few out of state posts. My first Tennessee bird? Well due to storms as I drove in, and being very busy getting life in order, I was able to miss the more common stuff initally. First 6 species, in order: Barred Owl - pair duetting (in August?) outside bedroom window. Ruby-throated Hummingbird Eastern Meadowlark Eastern Bluebird Mourning Dove Northern Mockingbird I've now been here about 34 hours, and still haven't used the bins. Much to do to get life in order, still, and I have a hike planned tomorrow. Hope migration is being generous t you all. Oh, and now I hear the BAOW again!
