Even in the dead of night, sometimes they wake us up. Thursday we used a tape to bring one in close enough to put the flashlight on - a real cutie -- red phase! We have Screech owls breeding in our neighborhood (Sherwood Forest, Colesville, Mont. Co.) and I tend to think these are residents but they could also be migrants. We have lots of nice pine trees and old locusts with holes for daytime roosting, though we have yet to locate an owl (this year). Cheers, Gail Mackiernan and Barry Cooper p.s. a couple of Nighthawks yesterday evening, heading south high and fast! ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
