Highlights were BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER, UPLAND SANDPIPER, and AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER. They were all found in the plowed field on the north side of the road (to the left as you approach from US 301), just past the brick house (the only house) on the right. All three of these birds were found near the thicker of two strips of green grass, maybe 50-75 yards from the road, and roughly paralleling the road. The AG Plover was seen right away, close to a Black-bellied Plover, making a good comparison possible. The uppy and the buffy were found later after constant scanning by five of us who were there (Lydia Schindler and company were there, and Danny Poet arrived later). These two grass-pipers were found not far from one another, but neither was in any association with other birds. The tally: Black-bellied Plover--1 Am. Golden Plover--1 Killdeer--35 Upland Sandpiper--1 Least Sandpiper--8 Buff-breasted Sandpiper--1 (state bird #298) Horned Lark--100+ Stan Arnold Glen Burnie blackrail@earthlink.net ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
