We passed a couple of hours or more there, most of them in the company of George Jett and Gwen Brewer. The weather was warm and humid with a slight breeze and no noticeable presence of Asian Tiger Mosquito. It was mostly cloudy. We counted at least 10 AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVERs, 1 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, 3 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS in view at once, 1 UPLAND SANDPIPER, 4 Semipalmated Plovers, many Killdeers, several Semipalmated and Least Sandpipers, and 1 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER. Dozens of Horned Larks were present. A male House Sparrow buzzed by Lisa and I very closely. On the way back we saw an adult Bald Eagle circling over the area near the Greenbelt Metro Station, outside the Beltway. Butterflies I / we saw were Eastern Tiger and Zebra Swallowtails, Orange Sulphur, Cabbage White, a very bright Red-spotted Purple, a road-killed Variegated Fritillary, a live Great Spangled Fritillary, two Buckeyes, a distant Red Admiral, a Question Mark floating about 20-25 feet up, a Monarch, a blue of some kind, a Silver-spotted Skipper, a Sachem, and zero Cloudless Sulphurs. Dragonflies were represented by Black Saddlebags, Common Green Darners mating, and another species that I couldn't see well.
