Tuesday there was very little save a coup le Merlins. On Wednesday today I found two adult Am. Godlen-Plovers at the Brown Rd. Turf Farm and a juvenile Baird's at the Hampshire Rd. section. The Baird's was in a puddle in back at the base of the irrigation equipment a nd not easily visible from the road. I asked permission to drive down the r oad and they had no problem. The field in question is between the two sets of houses on the north side of the road. There are two puddles in that field - one easily seen from the road, one hidden. The Baird's was with 20 Semis, 15 Leasts, and 6 Lesser Yellowlegs in the hidden puddle. Hampshire Rd. is accessed from Rte. 13 (southbound only). Sorry for the delay in posting this but I was unsure of the access issues at the site. Don Broderick assures me that this is OK, but I implore anyone looking for the Baird's (or any other birds) to contact the landowner and NOT LEAVE THE MAIN ROAD without expressed permission. No sign of Ruddy Turns tone or Buff-breated Sand (yet! - the habitat looks great!)
