Possible habitat loss in Anne Arundel County's Kinder Farm Park. A meeting has been called by county councilwoman Cathy Vitale for Wednesd ay evening at 7:00 at the Black Oak picnic pavilion. The purpose of said meeting is to discuss the possibility of the Green Hornets (local organized youth sports league; big organization) of adding the wildflower meadow to their portion of the park. This field was plant ed last year in warm season grasses and wildfowers. It has been blooming th is year and had a nice number of butterflies the day that I was there (sorry , I didn't try to ID) This same field was stop-over place for American pipts this spring, hosts several breeding species of birds. Also is routinely hunted by red-taile d hawks and sometimes red-shouldered. Sometimes has bobolinks and meadowlarks in spring. Adjoining woodlot has nice variety of birds most any time of year. One o f the "birdiest" places in the park. If any of you could write to Ms Vitale, or better yet, show up at the meeting you would be doing a service to local wildlife. cvitale@clark.n et The park superintendent is Bill Offutt. 410 222 6115 Linda Baker quiltbird@annapolis.net 410 757 6913 ======================================================================== To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================== ==========================================================================
