Wind from the W in am changing to WNW by 11:30am. Raptor Migration Highlight: Many small numbers after 9am at liftoff ranged at 1 and 2 birds up to 20 with about 200 total. Largest kettles at very high on clear sky was 168 and 194 in a long stream, not a good view in distance above me. After that BWs slowing down rest of late morning and early afternoon. Non-Raptor Migration Highlight: More good flight of BJ all morning. Couple of nighthawks at daytime, one at 145pm and one at 148pm. Season first Golden-crowned Kinglet with flock of 6. Topography of the Site: - steep ridge about 180-200' above Belair Rd. - about 260' above sea level - It runs northeast to southwest - the first ridge west of the Chesapeake Bay - 12 miles from bay, 5 miles NW of Back River - my hawkwatch is 150 yards west of the ridge - Fairwood Ave runs along side of ridge My hawkwatch is located in my backyard. Most of the hawk flights arrive from the northeast and a few from the north and northeast-east.
