She handles Canada Goose neck collar sightings. She will need the collar codes and collar and code color, place and date seen, and your name and address. As far as the collar effect -- the collar may appear to be tight but it is usually caused by feather compression and in no way causes harm to the bird. Hope this helps. Watching a flock of Canada geese Wednesday evening, my husband and I noticed one of them was banded. I was surprised, because these birds are so ubiquitous. Should we report the sighting to someone? It was a wide band around the bird's neck marked V88. The goose was on Wilde Lake in Howard County. I'm also concerned because the band seemed to be too small, as if the goose was banded when it was young and has now outgrown it. The lower part of its neck seemed constricted by the band. Looking at the necks of the other geese that were with it, the bottom of their necks seemed to be wider, as was this goose's neck just above the band. Is this a problem, or should I not be worried about it? Sherry -- Every 3.6 seconds someone dies of hunger. 75% are children under 5.
