A number of "firsts" included a couple YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKERS. Two GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS and one RUBY-CROWNED, such a pleasure to see these little guys again! Two WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS one singing -I can't wait for them to hit the feeders. An imcomparable SWAMP SPARROW in the sun, all burnished copper and bronze. Everytime I see one I think it is THE most beautiful sparrow, that is until I see my fist lincoln's or white-crown of the season. While looking for sparrows I found 3 NASHVILLE WARBLERS, acting very much like common yellowthroats (which were present too of course) skulking in the brush. Loads of acitvity from the resident birds. Chickadee and titmice everywhere. A few warblers with a couple BLACK-THRATED GREENS, MAGNOLIA and REDSTARTS. A BAY-BREAST was a nice addition. My 9:00 the acitivity had dropped off and there was hardly a bird to be seen. Bonnie Ott p.s. check our website for our scheduled weekday walk at Font Hill next week. ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
