All enjoyed the " obligatory " appearance of a PILEATED WOODPECKER, flying across a clearing. They have been very active this fall. Both RUBY and GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET in good numbers were enjoyed at close range for good comparison. Both RED and WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH were recorded. We had all woodpeckers except Red-headed W oodpecker- YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was one of first species tallied from the parking lot. The main push of warblers is certainly over, with only BLACK-THROATED BLUE, MAGNOLIA, BLACK/WHITE,WORM-EATING and COMMON YELLOW-THROAT being viewed. All were excited to have a cooperative YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO and SCARLET TANAGER. Of the Vireos, RED-EYED continue to linger. Flycatchers present were GREAT-CRESTED, PHOEBE , EASTERN PEEWEE. There was a middling to decent raptor flight going on with BALD EAGLES very much on display, and a flyby from the parking lot first thing in the morning. More details on the flight later.
