In fact, I was on the phone right after I read your message and learned that a Ruby-throated Hummingbird tested positive. It was found in NY. Crows are large and much more easily spotted and reported than passerines. Not a lot to offer but this is all I have at the moment. I did see a list of species but am not sure where -- it may have been on a web site. I will forward a list of web sites that I have to you as well as a couple of communications that may help. Cheers, Kathy Darlene Valentine cc: Sent by: Maryland Subject: [MDOSPREY] West Nile Virus Birds & Birding 10/03/00 02:16 PM Please respond to Maryland Birds & Birding This question has been asked of me and I don't know the answer. Maybe someone out there does. Why does the West Nile virus seem to be only affecting crows and not other birds? Or is it that crows are the only birds being found? Maybe others are dying, but not being found? Thanks for any thoughts.
