We're back (after a three day weather/aircraft delay) ...

Maryland had the largest number of birders during the second two weeks of
the month when Barbara and I were joined by Greg Miller, Janet Shields,
Beth Zang, and Marcia Balestri. We took a picture of our "delegation".

Birding highlights for Barbara and I included Ballion's Crake (NA first), a
likely Eurasian Sparrowhawk (NA first), Great Spotted Woodpecker (3rd NA
record), Dusky Warbler, Common Ringed Plover, Arctic Loon, Gray-tailed
Tattler, Emperor Goose, and Garganey. Other good birds included Dusky
Thrush, Mongolian Plover, Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, Slaty-backed
Gull. Biggest miss (at least for the two of us ...) was a Fork-tailed Swift.

It was tough tearing down the quarters and shipping everything back to
Anchorage ... since this was the last Attours trip to Attu, ever. The
buildings will be flattened by a bulldozer next year.

Good to be back ...

Phil
