Visitors from the Baltimore ( Scott Crabtree, Pete Webb ) West Chester PA ( Dan Haggarty ), Harford Bird Club ( Carol Nemeth, Norm Friedman ) and various Cecil members contributed to the count. We had a fine old timE, a bunch of addicted hawk watchers. Other observers stopped during the course of the morning. TV-23 BV-1 B E-7 PE-1 ME-2 Ak_14 SS-85 CH-13 BW-6 RT-1 UA-1 Passerines of note included PALM, YELLOW-RUMP, BLACK-THROATED GREEN, BLACK-THROATED BLUE Warblers. Including these mentioned as well, Dan H. reported an early morning mixed flock of with MAGNOLIA, PARULA and NASHVILLE as well. A BLUE-HEADED VIREO paused briefly on a snag at the hawk watch site ( thanks Scott ) EASTERN PHOEBE were still present, and Scott C. also reported a WINTER WREN. Hoping that tomorrow is THE BOMB, after this cold front!! Oops, time for Mad TV!! The Turkey Point Hawk Watch is located in Cecil County, MD and is part of the Elk Neck State Park. It was originated in 1994 by Gary Griffith, founding President of the Cecil Bird Club, and Charlie Gant, also a CBC member and long time member of Hawk Mountain, dating back to the days of Maurice Broun. The hawk watch is located in a meadow just before the southern point of the Elk Neck Peninsula. The point, which faces south, is at the head waters of the Chesapeake Bay, and overlooks the North East and Elk Rivers. Our best annual count came last year with 7,017 raptors and a strictly volunteer effort.
