Although sparrow numbers were down from the last time I was there the diversity was up. Additions were a WHITE-CROWN and CHIPPING SPARROWS. A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW gave all in the group an excellent look. SAVANNAHS were everywhere and SONG, WHITE-THROAT and SWAMP were found. Other birds of note were an ORANGE-CROWN WARBLER that gave a few birders a moderate look. A SORA that came up for 2-3 seconds and then dissapeared. An AMERICAN BITTERN that flew from the swale and gave everyone a look. 5 BOBOLINKS and a single skulking MARSH WREN. A few MEADOWLARKS were a nice surpise flying over the field. Waterfowl held some surprises with two PINTAILS, BLUE and GREEN WING TEALS and WOOD DUCKS. We found a BLUE-GROSBEAK and INDIGO BUNTING in the same thicket (which led to some initial confusion.) Some swallows moving with 4 TREE SWALLOWS and a few swallow sps.
