(long) In-Reply-To: Message of Tue, 10 Oct 2000 13:55:28 EDT from It also helps to grow a lot of red Salvia and similar hardy plants to attract hummers -- this is what Sam Pancake has around his home in Takoma Park, which has attracted at least two Selasphorus hummers -- including the one which overwintered. We had a hummer in very early October but it was a Ruby-throat -- although we tried to do more with it! As Marshall says, keep looking! (I have lots of Salvia this year -- free eats!)
