Subject: HoCo Osprey MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1" MDOsprey, About 11:00 this morning I watched an Osprey successfully hunting in the Lime Kiln Road pond in Howard County. (off of Rte 216 West of Rte 29). Now an osprey in Howard County is not all that exciting. However, this one was hunting in a relatively small manmade pond (~200 feet diameter), which included about 50 Canada Geese. He dove with in about 10 feet of the geese several times after fish until successful. The geese, while obviously not prey, were surprisingly calm and unconcerned about this large bird plunging into the water a few wingspans away. Not only did they not move away, they didn't even talk about the activity amongst themselves. Peculiar sighting anyway.
