Drove down to Worcester County for the Ruff on Friday afternoon and birded with Stasz & company on Saturday and Sunday morning, birded with Phil & Barbara Davis on Sunday afternoon. Quickie highlights: SNOW BUNTING - very early date; 6 birds with 40 Horned Larks in St Marys County on Friday (corner of Smith Nursery/Steer Horn Neck in Hollywood) RUFF - juv. bird was seen Friday afternoon and Saturday mid-day at Central Site Landfill (see Marshall's prev post for directions) BLACK-TAILED GULL - Assateague Island on Saturday & Sunday (see Phil Davis' post for the story) POMARINE JAEGER - sub-adult on Friday evening at O.C. inlet buzzed in to interrupt a flock of 1000 feeding gulls BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE - adult in basic plumage with the large gull flock at O.C. inlet Saturday evening PARASITIC JAEGER - sub-adult Saturday evening from about mile 12 on Assateague Island MYSTERY GULL - O.C. inlet Friday evening; possible white-winged gull; very ratty with missing outer primaries; no black showing on wingtips (what feathers were there...) ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER - Sunday at Wal-mart on Rt 50 west of O.C. CLAY-COLORED SPARROW - Sunday at Wal-mart again LINCOLN'S SPARROW - Saturday at Assateague and Sunday at Wal-mart DICKCISSEL - flitting around the point at Bayside Campground on Assateague Saturday morning. Also at Wal-mart were sparrows Grasshopper, White-crowned, White-throated, Song, Swamp, & Savannah; Nashville Warbler, Palm Warbler, Pine Warbler, Blackpoll Warbler, N. Parula (seen by others), 10 gajillion Yellow-rumped Warblers, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Hermit Thrush, Solitary Vireo, Cattle Egret, Greater Yellowlegs, Little Blue Heron, Great Egret, & Belted Kingfisher.
