Between 9 and 11 I had : 1 Sharpie, 1 Red-shouldered, 3 TV and 1 distant unidentifed. Given the lack of activity, I opted to bail out and attend to an ever growing list of " need to do " around the home front. Other migrants included DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT ( 227 ) which were looked over carefully for any that appeared larger, EASTERN PHOEBE ( 4 ), COMMON LOON ( 6 ), TREE SWALLOW ( several hundred ) and ~ 20 distant and smallish duck sp. The loons were pretty, right overhead. The Turkey Point Hawk Watch is located in Cecil County, MD and is part of the Elk Neck State Park. It was originated in 1994 by Gary Griffith, founding President of the Cecil Bird Club, and Charlie Gant, also a CBC member and long time member of Hawk Mountain, dating back to the days of Maurice Broun. The hawk watch is located in a meadow just before the southern point of the Elk Neck Peninsula. The point, which faces south, is at the head waters of the Chesapeake Bay, and overlooks the North East and Elk Rivers. Our best annual count came last year with 7,017 raptors and a strictly volunteer effort.
