A fabulous morning for sparrows. The numbers were some of the best I've
had. There were hundreds - 682 - (give or take a few) of sparrows at
Mount Pleasant. Gail Franz and I slowly worked our way through birds
moving everywhere.
SONG SPARROWS seem to be at their prime. LINCOLN'S are on their way out
with a big decrease in numbers. CHIPPING and WHITE-THROATS showed big
increases along with FIELDS.

        3 LINCOLN'S
        22 CHIPPING
        420 SONGS
        51 SWAMPS
        69 FIELDS
        81 WHITE-THROATS
        12 WHITE-CROWNS
        24 SAVANNAHS

One of the neatest birds was an AMERICAN WOODCOCK I came close to
stepping on! I love to "see" them in the daylight , a rare and special
treat! Little KINGLETS everywhere and an adorable WINTER WREN that gave
us an incredible show - out in the sun and so close we could hardly
believe our eyes!
