Me ang a group of others who are "bird crazy" were on a trip down there for one Saturday, on the 21st of October. As soon as we got there we were hit hard with tons of yellow-rumped warblers. In a pond we saw tri-colored herons, egrets, lesser yellow-legs, a little blue heron and some canadian geese. The birding continued as we found some caspian terns and a cooper's hawk. Next, we saw about 100 black skimmers sitting next to some sanderlings and a few semipalmated sandpipers. Would it end there? No. we entered a woodland area and saw the amazing brown-headed nuthatch, and osprey, a bald eagle and several woodpeckers. Chincoteague is worth the trip! Other birds seen: -Brown pelican -Palm warbler -Double crested cormrants -tons of gulls!!! -Hairy woodpecker there were a few others, but the total number our group saw in about 6 hours was 44 species. _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
