The longer primaries on Black-chinned are more spoon-shaped than on Ruby-throated. The wings are shorter in proportion to the tail on Black-chinned than Ruby-throated. The bill is proportionately longer on Black-chinned than Ruby-throated. The chip notes are different. The Record Late Date in Maryland for Ruby-throated Hummingbird is December 3. Any report after October 15 is of interest. Good Birding!
