Totals as follows: T. Vulture-30 Red-Shouldered- 20 Sharpies- 19 Red-tailed- 8 Coops- 6 B. Vulture- 1 Bald Eagle- 1 ROUGH-LEGGED - 1 The hawk watch was socked in by fog until noon on 10/26; from 12- 3, Amy Gordon had 35 birds, including: T.Vulture- 16 Bald Eagle- 2 Osprey- 1 Sharpies-- 8 Red-shouldered- 8 Year to Date totals- 3,259 total count TV-449 BV-20 OS- 73 BE-140 NH-12 SS-1,532 CH-212 NG-1 RS-203 BW-361 RT-116 RL-1 AK-93 ML-18 PG- 5 UR-22 The Turkey Point Hawk Watch is located in Cecil County, MD and is part of the Elk Neck State Park. It was originated in 1994 by Gary Griffith, founding President of the Cecil Bird Club, and Charlie Gant, also a CBC member and long time member of Hawk Mountain, dating back to the days of Maurice Broun. The hawk watch is located in a meadow just before the southern point of the Elk Neck Peninsula. The point, which faces south, is at the head waters of the Chesapeake Bay, and overlooks the North East and Elk Rivers. Our best annual count came last year with 7,017 raptors and a strictly volunteer effort.
