Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Hi, Lisa Shannon, Paul Pisano, and I spent an hour from 8 am to 9 am at the garden on the west side of the Hirschorn Museum. There was no sign of the hummingbird that had been seen yesterday and the two preceding days. It was also about 20-25 degrees colder than yesterday morning! At about 8:35, I watched astonished as an American Woodcock rapidly descended from the sky and landed under a small tree, up against the wall of the Arts and Industries building that borders the west side of the garden. I went to get Lisa and Paul and we managed to watch it for a few seconds until it flushed up and flew around the corner, its wings making a twittering sound. All four of us were equally surprised, I think. What a surprise. Rob Hilton aimophila@jahoopa.com Silver Spring _____________________________________________________ Sent by Jahoopa Free Email!
