Yesterday along Broad Creek (off the Potomac) I saw two immature Bald Eagles, a Great Egret, 10+ Eastern Bluebirds, an American Pipit, 7 Common Snipe, many Killdeer, 3 Hooded Mergansers (2 males), an immature Red Tailed Hawk, a Cooper's Hawk, and a Sharp Shinned Hawk. Around Schoolhouse Pond this morning, I saw what I believe was a late Swainson Thrush. I got a good look at the bird and noted the buff breast with distinct spots, white belly, brown wings, head, and cheek (noted little difference in color between cheek and head). Saw little or no rufous on the bird. Its call was a clear pip or whip. Yesterday, I saw my first Gadwall of the season on the Pond.
