Bird Club. CCBC meets at Carroll Community College, Westminster. From I-70, take Rt. 97 North to Rt. 32, turn left. Just past the YMCA is CCC (if you reach High School you've gone too far). Ask at Information Desk inside main entrance for meeting room. Meetings start at 7:30. The talk is a slide and video presentation about migration in southern Israel, cerainly one of the world's great avian spectaculars. An estimated 1.3 billion birds from huge storks and eagles to tiny warblers migrate through Israel each spring. It is also a hotspot for birdwatchers, over 20 thousand visit this tiny country every year to enjoy migration. Counts such as 10,000 Steppe Eagles a day or 100,000 Honey Buzzards a day are regular, and over 35 species of raptor have been reported. Hundreds of millions small passerines also flood through in the space of a few months, adding to the excitement.
