This is the first big flight of the season. Total to date is about 52 owls, including one screech and a recovery of a saw-whet banded this Fall near Carlisle, PA. I suspect I heard someone playing a tape in the vicinity of my site last night. Please be aware that the area of my project is closed to the public after dusk. The road is not open to the public at any time. Tapes also can interfere with the project. There are numerous other places in which saw-whets can be found in the state. Please refrain from any such activity near saw-whet study sites. Please also pass this on to anyone that might have done this if you know them and they are not on this list. Thanks!
