Wind from the NW. Cold front came through this morning and brought in cold wind. Cloudy early around 7am during half hour count before birdwalk. Sunny all afternoon. Raptor Migration Highlight: Sharpies and Redtails on the move. Non-Raptor Migration Highlight: Most of the robins and jays flight passing through between 7am-7:30am along with a flock of 80 Canada Geese at 7:29am headed SE. Nice flock of 105 Canada geese at 1:27pm headed SE. Topography of the Site: - steep ridge about 180-200' above Belair Rd. - about 260' above sea level - It runs northeast to southwest - the first ridge west of the Chesapeake Bay - 12 miles from bay, 5 miles NW of Back River - my hawkwatch is 150 yards west of the ridge - Fairwood Ave runs along side of ridge My hawkwatch is located in my backyard. Most of the hawk flights arrive from the northeast and a few from the north and northeast-east.
