Nothing too major the past few days at any rate. Charlie GAnt reported 42 birds on 11/03, not enough action for him!! 12 T. Vulture, 2 Sharpies, 6 Red-shouldered, and 22 Red-tailed. Dick Donham had another slow day on 11/04 in 3 hours of coverage: TV- 4, SS-6, RS- 2 and RT- 5 On 11/5 we broke 4,000 for the season, in what has been a below average count, at 4,015 for season now. Red-tails were beginning to move well this AM , picking up strongly at noon. Unfortunately, there was no counter that could stay beyond noon, so undoubtedly, birds went uncounted. Such is life!! A total of 72 birds this AM, no breakdown of numbers just yet. The Turkey Point Hawk Watch is located in Cecil County, MD and is part of the Elk Neck State Park. It was originated in 1994 by Gary Griffith, founding President of the Cecil Bird Club, and Charlie Gant, also a CBC member and long time member of Hawk Mountain, dating back to the days of Maurice Broun. The hawk watch is located in a meadow just before the southern point of the Elk Neck Peninsula. The point, which faces south, is at the head waters of the Chesapeake Bay, and overlooks the North East and Elk Rivers. Our best annual count came last year with 7,017 raptors and a strictly volunteer effort.
