This was shortly before 10 am. Sherman Suter saw the bird the same day but further south, off Blue Plains treatment plant, perched on a log. Another bird on Sunday (Nov. 12) we saw was an adult SHARP-SHINNED HAWK that flushed from the neighbor's yew as we pulled in to our driveway. This is a yard bird for us. It flew down our driveway then back into the neighbor's yard. I'm not sure I have ever been so close to a Sharpy before. In Bethesda on Friday Nov. 10 I saw a brown-backed MERLIN in the morning and an immature COOPER'S HAWK in the afternooon from my office window.
