Golden Plovers MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit WC birders -- Marshall forgot to mention that Todd Day found two American Golden Plovers along Evans road on Saturday (11/11). I looked for these birds on Sunday and found them in the same spot, with a flock of about 220 Black-bellied Plovers. There may have been more than 2 goldens, but flock was distant and partially hidden much of the time. To find these birds, go north on Evans Road from the intersection of Evans and Ironshire Station Roads. There will soon be an abandoned house on the right. The birds were in the field on the right (east), about 1/4 m or so north of the house. They were in the far (eastern) side of the field, near the railroad tracks/woodline. This is part of our OC CBC territory, and we did have golden plover on the count in this area one year, so we can hope they linger, although it is much more likely they are the last mid-November migrants. This entire area is good for field birds (e.g., longspurs, shorebirds).
