I walked back and forth along the wildlife end in hopes the GWF might be hiding along the shore of one of the islands. I even bypassed the chip note of a FOX sparrow in search of the goose.(What is the world coming to!) At 8:30 the distant honking of geese raised my hopes and soon the sky was filled with canadas. Hundreds of birds were steaming in and I scanned and searched for the bird. I could not see anything in the air that looked like "the bird". I hurried back down toward the islands where the majority of geese plunked down. Very quickly I found the GWF feeding and drinking in with the flock. Spent the next 45 minutes observing and taking notes on the bird. I mainly wanted to re-evaluate the bill color and it seemed pink in the clear morning light. I returned at 2:30 after work and was able to observe the bird again, happily ensconced among the canadas. "He" was sitting in the water but in a shallow spot and I was finally able to see the orange leg color. I left him there at 3:00. If we are lucky maybe this bird will stick around.
