This was our 3rd for the season. 11/14 was a rain-out. 11/15 Charlie Gant sent a report asking " where are all the birds after this cold front.?" IN 3 hrs of observation, strong NW winds, he had 4 TV, 4 BALD EAGLE , 1 Sharpie, 8 RT and 1 late MERLIN. At least he had a little variety!! 11/16, Amy Gordon gets prize for dullest morning of season, 1 TV and 1 Sharpie from 9 - 11, SSE winds. Here`s hoping for at least several more decent flights before we quit for the season!! We have full coverage through the 26th at least, and will try for several days coverage last week in November. The goal of 5,000 for the season is looking a little distant, with total now being ~ 4,300. The Turkey Point Hawk Watch is located in Cecil County, MD and is part of the Elk Neck State Park. It was originated in 1994 by Gary Griffith, founding President of the Cecil Bird Club, and Charlie Gant, also a CBC member and long time member of Hawk Mountain, dating back to the days of Maurice Broun. The hawk watch is located in a meadow just before the southern point of the Elk Neck Peninsula. The point, which faces south, is at the head waters of the Chesapeake Bay, and overlooks the North East and Elk Rivers. Our best annual count came last year with 7,017 raptors and a strictly volunteer effort.
