Sam Dyke and I failed to find the Ash-throated Flycatcher in an hour and half of looking and waiting, but I still believe it could still be present and escaping detection. In all likelihood though it is no longer around. The surprise of the day though was a LARK SPARROW that was feeding along the roadside at the Assateague State Park Sinepuxent Bay Boating Facility. To aficionados of Worcester County lore this is better known to the lucky and the jealous (i.e. ME!) as the "Bohemian Waxwing spot". The sparrow was w/ Song Sparrows feeding right by the boat ramp along the grassy shoulder that borders the Phragmites and shrubs on the south side of the small loop atthe boat ramp. The Boating Facility is the last right on Rte. 611 before the bridge to Assateague Island. I tried to flush the bird across Sinepuxent Bay so I could catch up on Mark's 10 Assateague Island Lark Sparrows, but the bird was unflappable. Perhaps this bird will stick around until the OC CBC. Norm and Fran take note [I think this is your territory]. I will keep Ospreyers posted if this bird hangs around. Best, Marshall Iliff miliff@aol.com Ocean City, MD PS - just kidding about trying to scare the sparrow across the Bay! ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
