Apparently Mapquest.com has been suggested & used by several visitors. So far, everyone that has made the trip viewed the bird. Good Luck! Gail Frantz Reisterstown, MD guineabird@aol.com The following was posted on Thanksgiving Day: dlmartin@twave.net (Dwayne & Lori Martin) To: foothillsbirdclub@listbot.com (Foothills Bird Club Listserv), Dwayne and I were fortunate enough to be able to see the Green-breasted Mango today!!!! We shooed our family away from Thanksgiving Dinner (it's always around lunch at our house!) in time to be there by 4:00pm. The little guy co-operated nicely and put in his appearance at 4:15pm-----It is absolutely HUGE!!!!! We also were able to meet the homeowner, Lori Turner, which was also quite a treat! I think all of us are quite a surprise to her. We spoke with her and her neighbors (who also have out their hummingbird feeder) and one of them said, "Now, we like nature and animals and everything----but you people are crazy!!!" I assured her that we were completely sane---that they were the ones who were in the dark about the world of birds and birding. The had no idea! She has had folks come from Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Florida, and one is supposed to arrive tomorrow from Canada---so they're beginning to get the picture! Good luck to everyone trying for it tomorrow----we may try to get some video of it ourselves sometime in the morning. You must contact Lori for permission to come on her property. Call before 8:00 PM!! The feeder that has been attracting the bird is attached to the back of the house, & is only visible from the back yard. The bird usually comes no earlier than 8:30 AM, & is not seen after 4:00 PM. When I saw the bird this past Monday we saw him on & off from 2:10 PM to 4:00 PM when we left. The bird came at 2:10, 2:40, 2:55, & then every 10 to 15 minutes until we left at 4:00 PM. The bird seems to be roosting in the pear & sweet gum to the right of the feeder. The hummer looks like the picture of the immature bird on page 265 of the third ed of the Geographic guide, except that the rust color was restricted to the side of the face.
