Out of National at 7:30, back at 3. A couple of things: you do NOT have to call Laurie ahead of time. There are crowds of people in her back yard. She is often in the back and does not answer the phone or call back. She is a very hospitable host and a very friendly lady. There is another hummer feeder next door. No one went into that yard, although the hummer was feeding there more often than in Laurie's yard - probably because of all the birders, many of whom were conversing at regular decibels. The bird is clearly a little skittish and non-appoachable. Easy viewing with a scope, however. The neighbors brought over coffee and served the birders at 11AM and were going to bring over turkey sandwiches at lunch. Can anyone IMAGINE that anywhere else? This is one birder friendly situation!
