Hi all -- Just a quick thanks for the follow-up to my request for help on target birds -- keep up the good work! One other species which I failed to mention in my first post is SAW-WHET OWL. We had originally hoped to catch up with one of these little guys at one of the banding operations, but it has not been a very good year and it looks as if this may not prove fruitful -- the Jug Bay operation has closed up for the year and Steve Huy has not been very hopeful about captures as the season draws to a close. Thus it looks as if we must hope for a roosting bird. Please, if anyone is scouting for their CBC or otherwise runs into one of these little guys, contact me privately. his would involve only two people coming to look and we would be very discreet about this information. On another note, I drove down with Paul Pisano to see the Green-breasted Mango yesterday --it took 6 1/2 hours from Alexandria and that with heavy rain at times, several short stops, and lots of slow traffic on the way home. Yes, we saw the little guy (or gal) and got reasonably good looks despite the intermittant rain. Birders were there from NC, SC, VA, MD, TN and FL. (No. we are not crazy...just a little unhinged!) Chers, hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving...
