Centennial walks this morning in the fog and rain. It was a rather pleasant morning and 4 participants showed. The park was virtually empty-a rarity in itself! The bird action was everywhere and quite lovely. Many sparrows around with numerous WHITE-THROATS feeding and singing occasional snippets of song. FIELD and SONG were both in good supply and a few FOX SPARROWS here and there. Other land birds were both species of KINGLETS and a half dozen MYRTLE WARBLERS. The KINGFISHER rattled over the lake which held 2 HOODED MERGS, 1 LESSER SCAUP, RING-NECKS, RUDDYS and CANVASBACKS. The COOTS and PIED-BILLED GREBES were present as usual but no sign of "the goose". All the Canadas left early and if he was there, we never saw evidence of him. An imm. SHARPIE dropped from the wire and emerged with a big "something" in his talons. Looked more rodent-like than bird like (thank goodness, since it was a sparrow filled spot!).
