Drove in on Hunting Quarter Road to the impoundments. Check them; then walked through the fields to Sycamore Landing Rd where I headed north to River Rd. Then came back through the fields. Ended the day by checking the northernmost of the eastern fields. More spring-like than fall-tree frogs were calling and saw a woodchuck and a few moths. Finished with 35 species. Highlights were 3 Eastern Phoebes(calling), 8 Winter Wrens(mostly around the impoundments), an estimated 300 Cedar Waxwings(the most I have seen all fall), 4 Fox Sparrows(in the field east of Sycamore Landing Rd), 41 Rusty Blackbirds(one along the road to the eastern fields and the rest at the impoundments), and 19 House Finches which is a good count for here. WARNING:Firearm deer season started on saturday Nov 25 and continues until saturday Dec 11. I would not recomend birding at McKee-Beshers during the week during this time. Sundays are fine since you can't hunt then.
