Brown Station Landfill is opereated by Prince George's County. The access road leads south from White House Road about .25 miles west of Largo Road [aka Route 202]. From the Beltway, take Route 202 south past Central Avenue [Route 214], turn right onto White House Road and the landfill acccess road will be on the left. Stop at the Weigh Station to ask to enter for birdwatching. Sometimes they will let you in, sometimes they will not. If you have prior permission, so much the better. To get prior permission to enter the landfill contact Robert Fletcher at 301-952-7607. As with any landfill, you enter at your own risk. There is a chance that a stray piece of debris will puncture a tire. If that worries you, park at the Weigh Station and walk from there. Keep out of the way of all moving vehicles. Wear boots: the landfill is always muddy unless it is frozen solid. Good Birding!
