I saw the Silver Gull at Riverview Beach, Pennsville, NJ on 11/12/96. As far as I know, the bird has not been accepted by the NJ Records Committee and probably will not for the reasons cited by Marshall. A natural occurrence in NJ of an Australian gull, not known to be migratory is unlikely to say the least. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful bird, well worth the trip across the Delaware Memorial Bridge to see, and an addition to my personal, though not reportable, list.
