Ocean City Inlet was quiet except for the 5 Harlequin Ducks. Skimmer Island was likewise quiet as it was a rising tide and all of the egrets and herons seem to have departed. West Ocean City pond was active with 14 species of waterfowl plus Greater Yellowlegs. Nothing unusual among the ducks, but 75+ Hooded Mergansers was noteworthy. One immature Great Cormorant at South Ocean Pines. Our highlight was Alan DeWard's Rufous Hummingbird which was a lifer for several and a state bird for me. In DE, Indina River Inlet was void of ducks. Best find there was a Lesser Black-Backed Gull on the south marina jetty. Silver Lake had 11 or 12 species of waterfowl including both scaup (mainly Greater), 3 Redheads (one drake and at least 2 females). The Spring Lake Tufted Duck was also on duty. Missed the eider and the Grebe at Henlopen, but did get 2 flocks of Snow Buntings and Surf Scoter. I alone ended the day on the dike trail at Prime Hook with a Tree Sp and a White-Crowned and heard a VA Rail out in the marsh.
