Certainly we don't seem to have anywhere much in Montgomery. Now DC is another matter. I'm beginning think that there are some really quite good places in DC, viz.: 1. Mud flats at downstream end of Theodore Roosevelt Island. Seen from trail leading under the bridge from the main trail. 2. Georgetown Reservoir. 3. Anacostia River "left bank" between Benning Rd. Bridge (near the PEPCO plant) down to South Capitol Bridge (mostly accessed from Anacostia Park). There are 3-4 loafing areas where gulls are to be found at all times other than full high tide. I got 5 species there last week. Reason I like these places are that the gulls are (especially at Anacostia) really close to you, and you can see the all-important plumage marks, leg and eye colors etc. Niagara Falls sounded good (talked to Norm on the phone this morning).
