(We had earlier spotted D Czaplak near the Visitor Center.) We saw it from the boat launch next to the causeway (where there were numerous Bufflehead, an abundance of coots and Canadas, Pied-billed and Horned Grebe, and Common Loon). The harlequin was initially resting on a very small log, to the left of the single small tree sticking up in the middle of the water. Eventually it moved into the water where it made many short shallow dives, and gradually worked its way out of sight, into the second cove on the right (probably below and beyond the barn). I'd love to see Dave's pictures, but I've not been able to connect to odolep....Could it just be too busy???
