(See Dave's pictures at site indicated by previous posts to MDOsprey). She was diving very actively and in general looked in pretty fine fettle. She was near Bufflehead, American Coot and Ruddy Duck, but was not necessarily directly associating with any of them. The time of observation was between 1:30 and 2:00 pm. An earlier (morning) birding trip, led by Rick Sussman of the Montgomery County Chapter, gave excellent views of 3 OLDSQUAW (LONG-TAILED DUCK), all males, and of a male COMMON GOLDENEYE with 6 females in tow. Plus lots of other nice waterfowl including CANVASBACK, RUDDY DUCK, RING-NECKED DUCK , AMERICAN BLACK DUCK, PIED-BILLED GREBE, HOODED MERGANSER and 2 HORNED GREBE. There were at least 10 EASTERN BLUEBIRD observed in the area near the Boat Ramp. At around 2 pm, 14 TUNDRA SWAN came over at fairly low elevation. A couple of the numerous CANADA GEESE around showed lots of white on the head and perhaps were hybrids of Canadas with (???) Barnacle Geese or Bar-headed Geese. Mike Bowen D.H.
