Highlights: At the DC Veteran's Memorial, a large flock of several dozen American Robins, as well as several chickadees, titmice, both species of kinglets and a Downy Woodpecker. The robins were foraging on the ground right at my feet, keeking and talking like a bunch of kindergartners in a sand box. Then all of a sudden they got quiet and flew up into the trees. A bit of investigation revealed a red fox, wandering about and gazing longingly at a treed squirrel. They'll be coming into the Castle next! Then an immature Bald Eagle put up all the gulls (Ring- billed) on the reflecting pool, and finally on the Ellipse an immature Cooper's Hawk seemed to have caught something (I couldn't tell what). A predator-filled day!
