While I missed the action involving the rat, I did see the owl standing in the field (must've been shortly after it was "stunned") just as I was leaving at 5 P.M. A number of us who were watching also located a rather large flock of Horned Larks feeding in the stubble, and mixed in were small numbers of both Snow Buntings and Lapland Longspurs. So if you're out there be sure to check the flocks of larks carefully for buntings and longspurs!
